• 2000: The AARC vision was to bring the various Asian communities together for positive action.
  • June 2001:  A City Council resolution was passed directing the City Manager to identify resources for AARC.
  • September 2002 to January 2003: The Network conducted a survey to identify AARC needs and priorities.
  • May 2003: City Council passed the AARC Ordinance and created the AARC Advisory Board.
  • May 2004: The Network raised $30,000 to launch the AARC.
  • March 2005: Received a grant for $100,000 from the Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration to develop the Master Plan.
  • August 2005: Request made for $5 million of seed funding through City’s 2007 Bond Package.
  • 2006: City Council designated $5 million of 2007 Bond Package for AARC.
  • June 2006: Broaddus & Associates was selected by the Network to develop the AARC Master Plan (completed in 2007 with community input).
  • 2007:Council approved the purchase of a 15-acre site for the AARC for $2 Million.
  • 2007:Voters approved $5 Million Bond Package.
  • November 2011: Construction starts.
  • November 2012: Construction substantially complete.
